Is Classmax safe?
Yes. It reads your coursework the way you do, from your own browser. It never sees your password and it cannot change or submit anything.

Is Classmax safe to connect to my university account?
Yes. Classmax reads your coursework from your own browser, using the login you already have open. It never sees your university password, and it cannot submit, change or delete anything on your portal.
Does Classmax see my university password?
No. The Chrome extension uses the session already open in your browser. Your university password is never seen, never sent to us and never stored. If your university uses single sign-on, that stays between you and your university.
Can Classmax submit, change or delete anything?
No. Classmax only reads. It cannot hand in work, edit a submission, post anything, or delete anything in your portal. On Canvas and Blackboard Ultra it also skips courses you teach; on Moodle it cannot tell yet, so do not connect an account you teach on there.
What does Classmax read?
Your courses and deadlines, your briefs, slides and readings, and your announcements. These are things you can already see when you are signed in. Where your course links to a public webpage or PDF, or to a file your lecturer shared with anyone who has the link, Classmax reads that too, from our server, without sending anything of yours. It never gets around a file's sharing settings. The complete list of what is collected and stored is in the privacy policy.
Does Classmax read my grades?
Only one thing: on Canvas, the score you got on each assignment, so you can ask about a result with the marking criteria beside it. It never reads your gradebook, your course total, your marker’s feedback or anyone else’s marks. On Blackboard and Moodle it reads no scores at all.
What happens to my coursework once it is synced?
It is stored in encrypted databases and used to answer your questions. It is never sold and never used to train AI models. The AI provider that writes the answers processes your question to return a result and does not train on it.
Can I delete my data?
You can delete your synced coursework at any time in Settings. Removing the extension stops all reading of your university platform immediately. To close your account and have everything deleted, email privacy@classmax.ai and it is done within 30 days.
Will Classmax write my essay for me?
No. Classmax reviews a draft against the real brief and marking criteria and tells you what to improve. It does not write work for you to hand in. Every university has its own rules on AI tools, so check yours.
Is Classmax connected to my university?
No. Classmax is independent. It is not run by, or affiliated with, your university or the company that makes your learning platform. It works because you choose to connect it, and it stops when you remove it.
Do I need to pay or enter a card to try it?
No. It is free to start, with two weeks of Pro and no card. If you do pay later, your card details go straight from your browser to Stripe and never reach our servers.
